South African SAPHI Kevlar Helmet

Manufactured by South African Pith Helmet Industries ( S.A.P.H.I ) of Rosslyn, South Africa. This model of Kevlar Helmet, known as the M87, replaced the steel M67 helmet in the late 1980's, and is the current issue helmet of the South African Defence Force. The M87 bears a striking resemblance to the US PASGT helmet. Inside the helmet features a canvas cradle liner system, with a black rubber bumper fitted to the rear. The canvas chinstrap is fitted to the helmet in three points. The helmet cover is in the SADF " Soldier 2000" camouflage, which was introduced between 1991 and 1993, its first large scale issue in 1994.
