Issued to Soviet ground forces from the mid-1980s, these trousers are part of a two-piece combination to be worn in the summer months over the field uniform. This pattern of camouflage is based on the KLMK (Kamuflirovanniy Letniy Maskirovochniy Kombinezon) that was initially used by snipers. A set comprises a beret, face mask and hooded coveralls.Made of coarser material, which the Russians are believed to have used managed to utilise this fabric to aid concealment against infra-red sensors. Used by a variety of personnel, from Spestnaz to Border Guards within the former USSR and in Afghanistan, during the 1979-1987 Soviet war.
