This "Splinter" colour way was issued onwards from the formation of the Bundeswehr in 1956. Used into the late 1960s and based upon variations of the WW2 era Splittermuster designs, these were issued to all branches of the Bundeswehr, with paratroopers wearing a variation which had upper zipped pockets. Two more commonly seen patterns included the overprinted "Raindrops", (the common type having narrow greenish grey raindrops), and the the more scarcer type having broader, black raindrops. This example have greenish/grey narrow raindrops. Becoming scarcer and harder to find. Conflicting conjecture says this pattern was also issued to BGS units. Discuss?
